Limpid case review and testing: crystal cube

Limpid case review and testing: crystal cube

Limpid translates like this - transparent, it's hard to come up with a better name. However, this case has other features, which we will dwell on in more detail in review

PC assembly for geeks and enthusiasts is not limited to selection necessary components. Some people like to collect their PCs in cases of an unusual structure, which show the contents like in the palm of your hand. Such Vinga Limpid is just the showcase case.

The standard package has a monochrome design with a list characteristics and configuration. As always, the set includes racks for motherboard, fasteners for drives, screws. There are also screeds for laying cables and an RGB LED controller, which includes a remote control management.

This is the most exciting factor in this model. It consists of steel chassis and tempered glass panels. In general, it is original design solution in the form of a crystal cube, which has a handle for transfer. The matte black chassis does not collect fingerprints, but it does the glass will have to be cared for so that it retains its proper appearance.

Name of the Vinga brand is applied from below on the outer panel behind which it is placed large glowing 200mm propeller. Between the chassis and the glass, the manufacturer provided sufficient clearances, thus decent cooling takes place components, but dust can also get in easily.

The facade is fastened with two screws with shock-absorbing inserts, the screws here are rubberized, which saves the glass from damage. It's up to him mounts for 120 mm coolers are located.

On the top panel there are USB 2.0 interfaces in quantity two, USB 3.0, sound output and microphone. There are also Reset and Power buttons, as well as LED indicators.

Z everything is unusual on the back side. Cutout for motherboard interfaces, the power supply unit and the place for the exhaust fan are located below, and seven expansion slots - at the top. This will not affect performance, just a feature design is the mirror opposite of the usual layout.

The top is also made of glass and is attached with shaped screws above a special place under which another 200 mm fan is hidden.

The case stands on four rubber legs that prevent it sliding A plastic construction is used here, but the propellers are not provided for

The side parts are made of transparent glass and are attached to with the help of screws with a dash. It is easy to remove them, as in the back and the front part of the panel protrudes a little.

Internal construction

There are no racks in front, which gives room for installation large components and free air circulation inside the system. Wires are conveniently placed in special holes and eyelets, places for this is provided enough.

The motherboard is installed on standard 6mm racks, which the manufacturer pre-screwed according to the ATX specification. They will fit here more compact solutions of the microATX and Mini-ITX format, but fasten them all will have to be upside down, due to the peculiarities of the structure of the case, which we are talking about already mentioned. The pallet has a special cutout for installing systems cooling for the processor without removing the motherboard, which is very convenient.

The power supply must be fixed vertically with the help of complete screws. The place for it does not contain anti-vibration gaskets It will be more convenient to choose a modular PSU for this case. So as the whole system will be like in a shop window, it is better to unfasten the extra wires for beauty

There are 2 places for installing 3.5" drives using screws. 2 more solid-state 2.5" drives can be installed in a special one plastic shelf behind the motherboard tray without using it screwdriver

The case is quite wide, which allows you to install processors coolers up to 146 mm high. There are no screws on the plugs of the expansion slots provided, so we recommend breaking it out as needed, because only one of they are reusable.

The main decoration of the case is a 200-mm fan at 560-590 rpm with RGB lighting. It is installed on the front side of the case and has 6-pin connector for connection.

Inside, two 120-mm fans can be installed in place of the standard cooler solution, but with a shift to the side, which significantly spoils the appearance. Instead, you can install a BSO radiator here, but in this case the case will not accommodate large video cards, which is worth considering.

On top of the case there is a place under a 200-mm propeller. And on the back side, you can also install an 80-mm fan cooler.

We found the complete RGB LED controller particularly interesting. It a small box that provides for the connection of 6 fans with RGB lighting, and two 4-pin LED strips. Controller installed behind the motherboard tray, and optical
